About This Journal
Journal Aims and Scope
The Journal of Financial Therapy (JFT) publishes research and practitioner-oriented manuscripts biannually (May/November) examining the cognitive, emotional, behavioral, relational, and financial aspects of well-being. JFT welcomes manuscripts from authors with varying backgrounds, such as practicing financial therapists, financial planners and counselors, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, behavioral scientists, specialists employed in business, industry, and academia.
Research Articles
JFT accepts a wide array of research articles that employ rigorous research methods. Examples include clinical, cross-sectional, longitudinal, panel, experimental, survey, primary, secondary, various sample types (e.g., large, small, convenience, international, nationally representative), pilot, quantitative, qualitative, and systematic literature reviews.
Practitioner's Corner
In addition to research studies, JFT supports practitioner-oriented manuscripts for consideration in its "Practitioner's Corner," which present innovative techniques, interventions, or approaches applicable to the clinical practice of financial therapy, considerations for financial therapy within certain groups, and the educational curriculum for financial therapy. More specifically:
Techniques, Interventions, or Approaches for Clinical Practice: Submissions should provide a comprehensive overview of a specific technique, intervention, or approach applicable to financial therapy sessions and practice management. This should include a detailed case study illustrating the method's practical application.
Special Considerations for Financial Therapy within Certain Groups: Papers in this area would address specific needs of unique groups that clinicians may work with (e.g., widows, special needs, women, LGBTQ+) or with specific presenting problems (e.g., financial infidelity, financial enmeshment, financial abuse).
Exercises or Activities for Education: We welcome papers that introduce techniques, interventions, or approaches designed to enhance the educational experience of financial therapy students. These submissions should include experiential learning exercises that can be integrated into the curriculum.
Reviews and Profiles
JFT provides a forum for those interested in financial therapy to share models, theory, ideas, strategies, and practice approaches. As such, JFT regularly includes profiles of researchers and practitioners, as well as book reviews, in each issue to facilitate and encourage an ongoing exchange of ideas.
The Journal of Financial Therapy is sponsored by the Financial Therapy Association and is indexed in Scopus, PsychInfo, Cabell's, Google Scholar and DOAJ.
